Nach dem Frühstück fahren wir gleich weiter nach Katherine und kippen uns dort erst mal einen Kaffee ins Gesicht. Außerdem erfahren wir in einer Internet-Klitsche, dass es nebenan im Restaurant Krokodil zu essen gibt. Das ist genau das, was wir hören wollten. Bis dahin vertreiben wir uns die Zeit in der Tourist Info und informieren uns über die hiesigen Attraktionen. Für morgen buchen wir einen Breakfast Cruise durch die Katherine Gorge. Dort bekommen wir zum Frühstück auf dem Schiff die Schlucht in der aufgehenden Sonne gezeigt. Auf die Frage, ob es in Katherine irgendwo Krokodil zu essen gäbe, sind sich beide Kolleginnen einig – es gibt nirgendwo Krokodil zu essen. Wir wollten sie nicht weiter bloßstellen und lassen unsere Belehrung. Das Krokodil hat vorzüglich gemundet, etwas gummiartige Konsistenz wie Tintenfisch, aber sehr lecker. Mit dem halben Liter Wein, den ich mir zum Essen bestellte, habe ich mich etwas übernommen. Deshalb fährt Micha uns die etwa dreißig Kilometer zu dem Parkplatz, wo die Bootsfahrt morgen losgehen soll. Ich liege sehr schnell im Bett, doch irgendwann des Nächtens treibt mich mein Brand zum Wassertrinken.[:en]After breakfast we drove to Katherine and had a coffee. We searched the city for an open internet cafe and talked a bit with the owner. She told us that the restaurant next door served crododile meat – and as Staehler had not tried that before we decide to go there for dinner. In the meantime we strolled through the town and visited the tourist info to get an update about the local attractions. We booked the Breakfast Cruise through Katherine Gorge for tomorrow. They will show us the rising sun in the gorge there while we have breakfast on the boat… sounds good! Both staff there are very sure that we won’t get any croc meat in whole Katherine – we didn’t want to show them up so we didn’t say anything. Staehler enjoyed the crocodile meal although he could hardly tell any difference to the squid that was served with it. As I had to drive I could not help him with the 0.5 l red wine he had ordered … what led to heavy thirst attacks in the night 😉 . We drove about 30 km out of Katherine and parked our car right where the boat trip starts tomorrow.[:]
